Gentlemen,
After a very successful tournament in Ocean City in April, the Flag Football Challenge Series is proud to announce two of our upcoming events!
The weekend of August 14-16, 2009 returns TFFCS to Baltimore and the MDFFA, where both the 9-man Ineligible and 4-man styles will compete. The 4-man will feature a double elimination tournament on Friday night, August 14th, under the lights and on the turf at CCBC Essex and/or Dundalk High School. The 4-man style is played with unaltered sonic boom flags on a 50 yd X 26 yd field, and the winner will receive a bid to USFTL Orlando with 10 teams participating. The pace is frantic and games last about 30 minutes, with limited contact. Saturday is the beginning of the 9-man tournament, where A and B squads are combined into pools to decide their seedings for Sunday. On Sunday, we split into A and B brackets, and teams with similar talent levels compete in a single-elimination fight to the finish. The 9-man game is physical, and constant up and down the field. More than $1000 in prizes will be awarded, with a minimum of 10 teams participating.
Unfortunately, we had to move our tournament away from our original dates of August 8-9 due to field availability. While that means little to most of the teams that will be in attendance, we apologize for any inconvenience it causes to the Discipio Tournament. This tournament, held in Albany NY, is an annual tournament to raise money for a fallen flag brother who is paralyzed due to a diving accident. It's a great cause, and I personally will be donating $200 to the cause. If anyone else would like to make a donation, please see me at the field and we'll send our support together.
Ocean City welcomes The Flag Football Challenge Series back on October 3-4, 2009 with a lineup that includes 4-man, 5-man, 7-man and welcomes 8-man Eligible for the first time to a TFFCS event. Beautiful fields right on the bay, and what promises to be solid competition will create a great atmosphere in OC! 8-man Eligible and 7-man screen will both participate in pool play on Saturday, and single elimination on Sunday. Why pool play? Teams will know when they play, games will be on time and the players and their families will be able to enjoy the weekend in Ocean City without having to wait for their next game. It also allows us to arrange the pools to avoid league competition (as much as possible) on Saturday. You're coming to a new place, you deserve to play new teams. We will offer a B bracket in 8-man if there is enough interest for it. 4-man will take off on Saturday, and 5-man will fly on Sunday with enough teams signing up. 4-man and 5-man games will be scheduled around the 8-man and 7-man schedule, so you can get the most games for your travel expenses. USFTL points and bids will be included in the prizes, which grow with more participation.
If you have any questions, give me a call.
